Due to the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, many sanctions have been imposed on Russia. The gaming industry also reacted to the war and complied with the sanctions. It seems like FIFA 23, which release date was announced a couple of days ago, will not feature the Russian teams. EA has confirmed the upcoming football game won’t feature the Russian national team or Russian clubs.

FIFA 23 Won’t Feature Russian Teams

A while ago, EA announced the Russian national team or Russian clubs would not include in FIFA 23. In the first period of the war between the two countries, EA pulled these teams from FIFA 22. But the company allowed players who owned Russian items, such as Ultimate Team players, to keep them and do as they please, such as trade them in the auction market.

EA Sports’ statement on this decision is as follows;

”EA Sports stands in solidarity with the Ukrainian people and, like so many voices across the world of football, calls for peace and an end to the invasion of Ukraine. In line with our partners at FIFA and UEFA, EA Sports will not include the Russian national team or Russian clubs in FIFA 23.”

FIFA 23 has a release date, a first trailer, and dozens of features. EA Sports is scheduled to release the football game worldwide on September 30 for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, and Google Stadia platforms. Also, the price of the game starts at $59.99.
