EA Access has been only exclusive on the Xbox One and PC (Origin Access) until now. Electronic Arts have confirmed to release for PS4 on the PlayStation Network this summer. The tweet was released Tuesday afternoon with an official announcement along with a short trailer.
Working the same way as Xbox One and PC subscribers there will be two options of payment: $4.99 a month or $29.99 annually. EA has yet to release the full catalog of games but might be only limited to what the trailer has already presented. Those titles were: Sims 4, Battlefield 1, Plants Vs. Zombies Garden Warfare, NHL 19, NBA 19, FIFA 19, and Madden 19.
EA Access has two neat features that could be used from Xbox One and PC. Those were backward compatibility and Play First Trial. Backward compatibility would allow PlayStation players to download older PS3 games and use on PS4. The Play First Trials feature was used for their newer released titles. This gave players the option to test out current games for a total of 10 hours. Almost as if you were renting the game for free. Although, EA didn’t seem to mention if any of these past features would be returning upon The Vault’s release.
Electronic Arts mentioned 5 years ago that they wanted to create a subscription platform for all consoles and PC gaming rigs. Microsoft was on board but Sony was on the fence about it and eventually declined EA’s offer. Back in March of this year, a Reddit user from Brazil found an EA Access tab on his PSN front page. The rumor started to spread and no one knew for sure if EA Access was going to be out for the PS4.
