At E3 2015, it was revealed that the PS4 and PS3 will now be getting Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 DLC before anywhere else. Microsoft has now reacted to this announcement.
Polygon had a chance to interview Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg on his thoughts on Call of Duty: Black Ops 3’s deal with Sony. Sony and Activision has made a deal so that Call of Duty is being advertised more as a PlayStation franchise.
Greenberg didn’t sound too upset about the Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 announcement going with the PS4 and Sony. He said “we were expecting the announcement” and that more people still play Call of Duty games on the Xbox platform anyway.
Greenberg also said that the Xbox platform is the only place you can get to play Call of Duty, Halo and Gears of War. If you are a shooting fan, there are lots of options for you on Xbox. He also said they will “continue to drive a lot of sales of Call of Duty” for the Xbox One.
Previously, Call of Duty was known as an “Xbox” franchise. Starting with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, it will now be a “PlayStation” franchise. Sony has made a similar deal so that DLC comes a month early.
