E! Network announces the cancellation of its two daily entertainment news shows, Daily Pop and Nightly Pop. The E News shows were canceled due to some restructuring of the Network. The plans were announced in a staff memo this Friday morning from Tracie Wilson, NBCUniversal’s executive vice president of syndication studios. The notice to the E! staff revealed the new leadership team as well as details about ending both E! talk shows.

Wilson’s Memo to the E! Network Staff

In the memo from Tracie Wilson to E! Staff, the NBCU executive VP of syndication studios writes how for the past six months, she has dug deep into the E! News business and where she plans to take E! from here. The goal for the new and improved E! is to “create a center of excellence for entertainment news at NBCU,” Wilson wrote.

This reconnecting with E Network staff comes after the goal previously stated was shared in February. Wilson promised to reconnect after getting a better idea of the new organizational structure, and that’s exactly what she did.

Part of the restructuring comes as a “Terrace Studios” umbrella is being created to share “critical support functions across the Access and E! News brands such as stage, production management, hair, and makeup, etc.” Wilson goes on to write how this umbrella will help everyone to work smarter and more robust while Access and E! join forces. Access is another entertainment news show which has been on the air for 13 seasons. Some might recognize Access with popular hosts Mario Lopez (Saved By The Bell), Scott Evans, and Kit Hoover. “Access has reestablished itself as THE home of entertainment news on broadcast, and E! News remains one of the most iconic multi-platform brands in the industry.”,  says Wilson.

After announcing new and old leader names, it is clear all these changes are pertinent to NBCU to restructure E! and set it up for growth and success moving forward.

So what does this mean for the popular E Network daily entertainment talk-show-esque Daily Pop and Nightly Pop shows?

At the end of the memo, Wilson announces a new show that will be launched to air nightly beginning in late October. This means E Network Nightly Pop and Daily Pop will both seek their ends this coming Fall season.

You can read the end portion of Wilson’s memo about Daily Pop and Nightly Pop below.

“Finally, as we continue to focus on the future of E! and its news offerings, we are going to be launching a new show on the linear network that will air nightly beginning in late October.  We will be announcing more details in the coming weeks, but our vision for the linear show is to return to the roots of the E! News brand as the gold standard of entertainment news coverage.  As we continue to move the brand in this direction, Daily Pop will end its run in mid-September and Nightly Pop will conclude in early October, paving the way for us to focus audiences on our new show.  I want to say a huge thank you to the Daily Pop and Nightly Pop teams for their creativity and commitment, including working countless hours to keep these shows up and running through the pandemic.  I know change can be challenging, but I am truly excited about the future of these brands that we are going to build together. I appreciate your dedication, flexibility and support as we continue work through this process.  Looking forward to “seeing” you soon.”

Daily Pop premiered in May 2017, while Nightly Pop premiered in October 2018.
