Koei Tecmo has clarified today that despite the fact that Dynasty Warriors 9 has only been announced for PS4 in Japan, the game will also launch on Xbox One and PC via Steam in Western territories. This way, the company is keeping the musou action series as a multiplatform release, as it’s been for years, at least for the main entries.
Dynasty Warriors 9 sets itself apart from the rest of the series by having an open, interconnected world, which allows players to travel from the battlefield to any town nearby. This sets an unprecedented level of freedom of choice and immersion in the world, with new side quests, skirmishes, and other events happening while players visit emblematic places such as the bamboo forests of Chengdu, or the Great Wall.
The company has also revealed two brand new characters that will make their debut in the series with this entry. The first one is Man Chong, who is described as ”a brilliant general, skilled debater, and an excellent tactician;” the other addition is Zhou Cang from the kingdom of Shu, known for his incredible stamina and speed. The two of them join a cast of fan favourites, including all the characters from Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires.
Koei Tecmo is yet to announce a release date for Dynasty Warriors 9.
