Dying Light 2 is finally available, with thousands of players finally beginning to sink their teeth into what it has on offer. Thrust into the shoes of Aiden, you must go through the tumultuous path of finding your sister Mia and helping those you meet along the way. As you work through your adventures though and are ready to take a break for a bit, you may want to save the game so you can return in the future. Without a save option in the menu though, you may be left a little confused. No need to worry though as, in this guide, I’ll show you how to save your game in Dying Light 2!

How to Save in Dying Light 2

You may have noticed when launching the game that a message like the one above shows up, which should answer your question directly. Dying Light 2 doesn’t use a traditional save system, instead opting for checkpoints letting you pick up at specific save points throughout missions and your open-world adventures. These happen fairly frequently and should put you back to where you left off last.

With that being said though, this guide is titled “how to save”, and believe it or not, there’s a way to game the checkpoint system so you can checkpoint when you choose to. Keep in mind that this trick will only work if you’re not currently in a linear part of a mission, so make sure you’re able to do open-world activities before you do this. When you have that sorted out, head to one of the nearby mini-outposts with a rest spot and rest until either day or night. Once you’re up (I’d suggest moving around for a few seconds after waking up), the game should checkpoint and let you get off with your progress nicely saved. It’s an unorthodox trick but hey, whatever works, right?

Dying Light 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
