Dying Light 2 was released just a few short weeks ago, though given how hectic this month has been, it feels like it’s been months. Beyond Dying Light 2 itself, there’s been the debut of the biggest Destiny 2 expansion in a while, the worldwide release of Elden Ring, the western release of Lost Ark, and Horizon Forbidden West on PlayStation to top it all off. There were arguably way too many games this month, though I suppose too many games is better than a content drought. Though I digress. Despite Dying Light 2’s recent release, the team at Techland is making sure the previous installment still gets support now and then. Today is no different, as Dying Light 1 is getting its form of PC crossplay!
How does PC crossplay with Dying Light 1 work you may ask? Well, instead of allowing play with other consoles which may be too much of a challenge to implement, PC crossplay lets users on Steam, GoG, the Epic Games Store, Windows, Mac, and Linux all play together no matter how they wish to experience the game. Before today’s update, each storefront and operating system was stuck to like-minded users, so this should give those using lesser-used hardware a chance at finding others to play with. Not to mention friends from other platforms playing together.
That’s not all being introduced with this update either. On top of that, fixes have come in for previous issues with laptop GPUs. If you found yourself having issues running the game on a laptop, or simply having your laptop overheat, this update should hopefully fix that problem. Just don’t go in expecting your decade-old toaster to not scream at the sight of a game like this all of the sudden.
