DC cast Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam and he’s been a force of marketing for the movie ever since. So, fans were in for a surprise this morning when Dwayne Johnson took to Instagram to share a behind-the-scenes look at the set of Black Adam.

This isn’t the latest DC news. In fact, they recently announced the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader for HBO Max and power enhancements in Justice League #61 for characters like Black Canary, Hawkgirl, and Superman. But it is the most recently released news on Black Adam since DC dropped the official teaser trailer.

Scott Campbell (We Got This Covered) describing the set of Black Adam:

DC, like the MCU, is in the business of visual storytelling when it comes to their comic-inspired movies. So, they typically rely more on CGI effects than practical ones to tell fantastical stories about superheroes. But many fans have come to appreciate the increasing use of practical effects in these stories. They feel that actors having some ability to interact with physical objects or characters translates better on-screen.

When DC announced that they were casting Dwayne Johnson as Black Adam in 2014, fans were very excited.

Then production stalled due to changes in scripts and writers. It stalled again in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past few months, however, various news updates from the set of Black Adam have fans excited once again. There have even been rumors of a possible appearance of Black Adam in the Shazam movies. For now, though, the fans are just happy to be that much closer to seeing their favorite villain on the big screen.
