If there is anyone who feels positive about a crossover between the DCEU and MCU, it is Dwayne Johnson. As his debut in the former’s universe with Black Adam, the star spoke to Total Film magazine (via GamesRadar) about how he is “optimistic” about an event that would see the Marvel Cinematic Universe and DC Extended Universe come together.

We have seen a crossover between Marvel and DC in the comic book world. There have been DC Versus Marvel, JLA/Avengers, and the All Access run. Smaller collaborations have happened, like Batman/Daredevil and Superman vs. The Amazing Spider-Man. If it can happen on paper, then maybe Dwayne Johnson will have his dream come true for a big-screen crossover.

Dwayne Johnson wants a DCEU and MCU crossover

Having pressure from fans to see an adventure with the Justice League and Avengers is one thing, but when stars and filmmakers start pressuring the studios for it, that is another story. Dwayne Johnson has not been the only one to wish for this as James Gunn has been too. Since Gunn has been on both sides with the Guardians of the Galaxy films and then recently released The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker on DC, he has talked about the idea with the heads of both studios.

For now, both franchises are moving forward in their own way. On the DC side, Black Adam with Dwayne Johnson releases on October 21, Shazam! Fury of the Gods on December 16, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom next year on March 17, The Flash on June 23, and Blue Beetle on August 18. The MCU debuted She-Hulk on Disney Plus today (August 18). It also has lined up Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on November 11 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special to end the year. Next year kicks off Phase 5 with What If…? Season 2, Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania on February 17, Secret Invasion in the spring, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 on May 5, Echo in the summer, Loki season 2 in the summer, The Marvels on July 28, Ironheart in the fall, X-Men ’97 in the fall, Blade on November 3, and so much more leading all the way through 2025.
