The Dungeons and Dragons team tweets out a streaming schedule each week and this week’s contains a big question. Well, it’s actually full of six question marks in a space laid out for Thursday, May 21, 2020. So, we asked the question of what does it mean?
The schedule is full of other popular streaming shows and events linked to Wizards of the Coast. It’s got Dragon +; their digital magazine, Todd Talks; the channels talk show that catches up with writers and creators, and Welch’s Game Juice; where lead designer Kate Welch plays video games. So, pretty standard stuff for the Dungeons and Dragons Twitch channel.
Here’s what’s happening on https://t.co/2KBortnMNv this week!

However, the 12 PM to 1 PM block on Thursday just shows a red block with question marks inside of it. That’s led some to believe a big announcement is coming from the creators of the world’s best roleplaying game, and we’ve got some speculation on what it could mean.
Since Wizards of the Coast has not announced a live stream event for 2020 like last year’s Stream of Descent, it could be teasing a potential event for this year. However, due to COVID-19, it will have to be done completely online, but Wizards’ has had several live-streamed shows already since the stay at home order began.
Another possibility is the announcement of a new campaign book or guidebook. The last official D&D book to release was Critical Role’s Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount. The next book, Mythic Odysseys of Theros, was delayed from June 2 to July 21. Four books were released last year, with Ghosts of Saltmarsh having been released on May 21. So, while we may not know any details about a new book as of now, it is promising that the team is working on something new.
One last announcement could be the anthology from Dungeons and Dragons’ lead designer, Kate Welch. She teased last year on Twitter that she is working with a group of writers on a “series of short adventures.” Two of the other writers joining the book are Daredevil actress and dungeon master Deborah Ann Woll and Critical Role’s Marisha Ray.
i don’t want to say too much about it just yet, but i’m working with a crop of amazing writers on a series of short adventures… including @Marisha_Ray AND @DeborahAnnWoll ??????
