A Stranger Things starter set for Dungeons and Dragons is currently available for preorder. Published by Hasbro, this set has everything those new to D&D will need, in addition to fun extras for fans of both the role-playing game and Netflix’s hit horror show.
The set comes with two Demogorgon figurines, one which is unpainted for those that enjoy miniature painting. The box has been themed to look like art from the ’80s as well. Character sheets are included that contain stats for characters from Stranger Things so that players can take on the role of those in the show if they wish. Such as Jim Hopper, Joyce Byers, Dustin, Lucas, Mike, and Eleven. It also includes plenty of dice as well as instructions on how to play the game.
With the starter set is a Dungeons and Dragons campaign guide to play through a storyline from Netflix’s show. The plot is based around the one where Mike Wheeler was the Dungeon Master for his friends and ran a campaign that involved a multi-headed thessalhydra.
The pairing goes very well together, given many Dungeons and Dragons references were made during Stranger Things, including the series starting out with the game being played. Since then, Netflix has released a successful second season. A third season will air on July 4th, 2019.
While the starter set is currently available for pre-order, it will hit stores this May 1st. The retail price is $24.99 US, $35 AU. This is not the first game Hasbro has paired Stranger Things with. It already released a themed version of Monopoly and Ouija board. Those who became interested in D&D from the show, or those who were just pleased to see more D&D in the media, can find joy in both products with this new starter set. Just be careful not to end up in the Upside Down!
