Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden is the newest Dungeons and Dragons campaign book from Wizards of the Coast. The guide was announced during the D&DLive2020 event and releases September 15.
The show kicked off with hosts Anna Prosser and Mica Burton announcing the book with principal rules designer Jeremy Crawford and senior game designer Chris Perkins.
According to Perkins, Rime of the Frostmaiden is a horror campaign that takes place in the city of Icewind Dale. Characters must deal with a deity known as the Frostmaiden as she terrorizes the town.
The campaign book will feature over 50 stat blocks, which is one of the most amount of character stats included in any recent guide. With the Frostmaiden having a couple if them herself. As a deity, she can take many forms and each one has an individual stat block.
Dungeon masters are able to pick and choose a quest and run it as a standard adventure in Icewind Dale. However, they can also run the entire campaign if they so choose.

The adventure also features new mechanics such as food and water management as characters try to survive avalanches, blizzards, and freezing temperatures. Plus, the adventure includes a number of sports and games for the characters to play. One of which the developers teased was making a return to Fifth Edition.
One could only assume that would be the amazing game of Goatball.
Rime of the Frostmaiden has 320 pages of content to explore and will feature two covers when it releases.
