If you’re a fan of either Dungeon Defenders title, you’ve likely at least heard about Dungeon Defenders Awakened. It’s a remake of the original game, bringing all you loved about the first title along with some improvements. If you’re excited about Awakened, then today you’re in luck. The developers have announced that the game will release on February 21st in Early Access! The news was officially announced via the game’s official Steam page which you can find here.
In the post, the developers talk about how the original plan wasn’t to go into Early Access but that it will be the best option for the game going forward. According to a survey done for the closed beta testers, only 10% were dissatisfied with the beta which is huge already. That’s not stopping them though, as they’ve outlined what they can improve in the meantime and are working to do so before February 21st. On top of all this, the Early Access period won’t be like other Early Access games. There will be a short period in EA, as the developers are aiming to polish the game but want to get it out sooner.
Finally, we have the Roadmap, which details a lot of what you can expect up until Q3 of this year. February will see Early Access launch along with the promised features like 12 campaigns. March will introduce a new boss and map, along with harder difficulties for those wanting more. April will see another new boss and challenges for players to face. Q2 will bring the game into full release on PC & Switch, and Q3 will see releases on PS4 and Xbox One. With all this content to look forward to, you’ll want to jump into the game right away. The price has not been confirmed, but you can expect it to be around $20 given the Kickstarter Page’s rewards.
