Originally released on the Nintendo DS back in 2011, Monster Tale is a bit of a cult classic. Everyone who played it loved it, the trouble was, not as many people actually managed to get their hands on it. This wasn’t helped by the fact the game was only ever released in North America.

This was set to be fixed when, back in 2015, it was announced that the game was to be released on the 3DS with a multitude of improvements, under the name Monster Tale Ultimate. Unfortunately, this never came to be and it seemed as if the title would remain a forgotten classic forever. Until now. Today it’s been announced that Majesco Entertainment will be bringing Monster Tale back to life on modern consoles. The consoles and release date aren’t specified, but it’s safe to assume Monster Tale will head to pretty much all the current consoles, and hopefully without a huge wait. It’s said to be coming at some point this year.

In case you’re unfamiliar with it, Monster Tale tells the story of a young girl named Ellie as she adventures with her monster sidekick, Chomp. Ellie must explore the world to unlock new abilities and evolve Chomp so he can help out with the journey. Presented in a 90’s style full of 2D nostalgia, Monster Tale is a blend of puzzle-platformer, Metroidvania, and pet management. There’s a lot to love here.

Monster Tale will release on current consoles sometime in 2021 if all goes to plan.
