Indie horror publisher DreadXP has announced its plans to launch MystiveDev’s Mirror Forge later this year. The psychological horror game takes players on a visceral journey through terror, complete with a trailer to prep up audiences. Mirror Forge has a release window for September 2022 on PC, and it’ll arrive on Steam, Itch.io, and Epic Games Store.

The Nightmare Begins Between Dimensions in Mirror Forge

Inspired by noteworthy horror experiences like Silent Hill and Stranger Things, Mirror Forge transports players to a different world. Or more so, worlds in this case. You assume the role of Thomas Jackson, a depressed alcoholic who is traumatized by his past. After dealing with a series of unfortunate spills, he seeks to rectify his mistakes with his ex-girlfriend Jill, a journalist. That is until he can’t find her anywhere. The only trace of Jill left is her last report. From there, the trouble dives into universal mental horror.

Expressed through a first-person perspective, Mirror Forge tasks the player with roaming through different existential dimensions. These mainly deal with depression, alcohol abuse, guilt, and suicide, all persistent themes bleeding through Thomas’s life. Grotesque creatures also lurk in the areas where Thomas will explore as he continues to search for Jill. But tread carefully – the story is ever-changing; one bad move could bring an unpleasant to either Thomas’s or Jill’s life. To get a sense of what Mirror Forge is offering, DreadXP released a publisher trailer to introduce players to the game. You can check it out right here, but proceed with caution. Some images might be disturbing for some viewers due to the mature themes.
