The Dragon Ball Z brand was one of the hottest of the late ’90s and early ’00s, and now it has seen a major resurgence in recent years with two new movies and a new anime series. Beyond that, we got two new games this year, with one of them just getting a major patch update in Japan.
Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden released this past summer in Japan on the Nintendo 3DS, followed by a release in the US back in October. The game was overall a mixed bag, with one of the most surprising missing features being that of online play.
We had heard before that this feature was going to be patched in later, and that is exactly what has happened in the latest patch update, at least for Japan.
After adding a Training Mode in a past update, the latest patch brings not only online play to Dragon Ball Z: Extreme Butoden, but also an Extreme Survival mode, and new assist characters like SSJ4 Gohan.
It is good to see updates coming to a game that did feel a little lacking in areas, but we will still have to wait and see if and when the US will get it. It would seem very likely we’ll get it, so question is more a case of when than anything.
