He went on to say that the South Korean animation studio DR Movie will animate the Death Note parody in the upcoming “Treehouse of Horror XXXIII“. Leaked footage from the episode made its rounds on social media Tuesday. The clip shows Lisa discovering the Death Note- called the “Death Tome”- and reading out the rules.

Past the screenshots, the short also describes Lisa expressing her frustrations with the world and pollution. It then goes on to say, “With her newfound power, Lisa will likely set off on a journey to fix the world, meeting unforeseen consequences along the way.”

The Simpsons “Death Note” Parody: Two Studios Coming Together

DR Movie has assisted with the production of hundreds of anime titles. This includes background art and in-between animation for the actual Death Note anime. Earlier this year, the studio was credited for co-producing The Rise of the Shield Hero season 2 with Kinema Citrus Studios. In the past, DR Movie is also credited with Teen Titans, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Batman (The Animated Series).

In July, Selman also revealed that this year’s “Treehouse of Horror” episode will also parody Stephen King’s IT. The show’s Twitter account also revealed a poster visual for the segment back in September. The poster shows Lisa Simpson drawn in anime style and the Death Note shinigami Ryuk.

The Simpsons “Treehouse of Horror XXXIII” episode will air on October 30th. It will be the second segment in an episode of three segments. The other two will be a parody of the Babadook starring Marge, and a Westworld parody.
