Dota 2 s pro Team OG made history on Sunday at The International 2019. The Dota 2 Grand Final of the event took place in Shangai, China. And it has seen a best of five series between OG and Team Liquid. OG won the tournament in 2018 while Team Liquid did so the year before, in 2017. Though, no one had ever won the International twice. Therefore entering the match, the fans were eager to know which team would’ve made history by becoming the first two-time champs.

In the end, OG achieved a three-to-one lead over Team Liquid that gave them the win. Though, the glory and the Aegis of Champions trophy aren’t the only prizes received by OG.

The winner and best Dota 2 team, in fact, won a total of $15 million as well. Every OG player received $3.1 million. Despite second-place, Team Liquid gained $4.4 million. Team Liquid’s players got around $900,000 each. OG also broke the record of the largest sum of money received by an esports organization.

The Dota 2 International 2019 records

The International broke records by itself. One regarding the crowdfunded prize pool of $34 million. That has been the biggest prize pool of any esports event. The other is regarding Twitch views. The International 2019 has been the most viewed Dota 2 event on Twitch ever.

GitHyp reports that during the Grand Final, on Sunday morning, the Twitch’ s viewership count reached 1.1 million. Last year, The International has seen a decline in viewers of 100,000. While this year, the event has seen a significant increase of 51%.

Also, it’s worth noting that the 2019 Grand Final, where the viewership peak occurred, ended at 8 AM ET/5 AM PT. Which means that probably the event lost some potential viewers from the United States. But despite that, The International 2019 managed to surpass by a large margin the previous record set in Seattle two years ago.

The now broken Dota 2‘ s viewers record was of 845,000 set during The International 2017.
