The final issue of the DC/Watchmen crossover comic series, Doomsday Clock, may have only just been released. But the minds behind it already have an idea for a sequel. While speaking to CBR about the impact of the series, writer Geoff Johns revealed he and artist Gary Frank know where they could go next. Slight spoilers for Doomsday Clock #12 below.

Doomsday Clock #12 does leave room to revisit some of the story elements and characters later. Johns didn’t go on to say what that kernel of an idea is. But he did clarify that Doomsday Clock and the sequel idea wouldn’t lead to a massive crossover event.

Doomsday Clock began in late 2017. 2016’s DC Rebirth #1 revealed that changes in continuity were the result of Dr. Manhattan’s tampering, which led to DC’s previous New 52 lineup. The series saw a slew of delays before it was able to wrap up this month finally. In that time, another DC comic revealed a huge change that would be the result of Doomsday Clock. HBO also released its own follow-up to Watchmen earlier this year, however, with no Batman or Superman.
