If you’re looking for a game filled with dumb fun, lots of shooting, and fast-paced carnage, there’s one series you’re looking right at. The DOOM series offers endless entertainment, having you rip and tear until it is done for hours on end. It provides some wonderfully destructive moments, something fellow writer C. Anthony discussed greatly in his review of DOOM Eternal. With how great of a game that is, and Microsoft’s recent acquisition of Bethesda, today’s news comes to no surprise. DOOM Eternal will be added to Xbox Game Pass for Console on October 1, bringing slaying goodness to the subscription service. It’ll come to Game Pass for PC later this year. You can find the launch trailer below.
DOOM Eternal follows the Slayer on his latest venture, following the massacre on Mars and his closing of the Hell portal. Despite his best efforts, the demons are invading other parts of the solar system including Earth. With a new fortress, new enemies to fight, and an even greater thirst for vengeance, the Slayer must work to put a stop to the demonic invasion. He’ll do so the only way he knows how ripping and tearing until it is done.
DOOM (2016) remains my favorite game of all time and while I haven’t played it, DOOM Eternal has earned severe critical acclaim. It’s praised for its intense depth in exploration while providing shooting that rarely gets old. You’re forced to constantly be moving, keeping up the high octane action you’ve come to expect. That, combined with a multiplayer mode that’s addicting and fun with friends, makes this game a wonderfully complete package. That and, well, who doesn’t want to slaughter demons to a killer rock soundtrack?
