The first teaser trailer for Universal 1440 Entertainment’s upcoming Doom: Annihilation movie has been released and it certainly looks to be action-packed. You can see the full teaser trailer down below (courtesy of Bloody Disgusting):

Doom: Annihilation is set to be a direct-to-video title and while it doesn’t have a definite release date just yet, the movie is expected to release sometime this Fall. Here’s an official synopsis for the upcoming film from Universal:

According to Bloody Disgusting, Tony Giglio both directed and wrote the film. It stars Amy Manson, Dominic Mafham, Luke Allen-Gale, and Nina Bergman. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Four Brothers, Transformers) and John Wells (Animal Kingdom, Shameless) will act as executive producers.

Many probably remember the last Doom movie adaptation. Yeah, the one that had The Rock in it. To put it simply, the 2005 movie didn’t perform very well at the box office and audience reception was, let’s just say it was mixed at best. The same could be said for this short teaser. Fan reaction has essentially varied from a lukewarm reception to calling the straight-to-DVD movie out for “looking cheap”. With no official release date in sight, maybe Universal 1440 Entertainment will be able to listen to these critiques and rectify them before the movie releases. Doom has been one of the most widely-recognized and beloved FPS franchises in gaming history. It deserves to have a good movie adaptation. Only time will tell if Doom: Annihilation is that movie.
