Today, Microsoft unveiled the upcoming lineup for the Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Game Pass, and PC for the upcoming year. While Halo Infinite, Fable, and As Dusk Falls definitely stole the show, a few lesser-known titles from renowned developers did a great job rounding out the show; we are excited to see how each project turns out within the coming year. Thankfully, Microsoft has announced that Tell Me Why Episode 1 will be releasing sooner than expected.

Dontnod’s Tell Me Why was originally announced at Microsoft’s Xbox London event in November of 2019. For those who do not know who Dontnod are, they are the developers of Remember Me, Life is Strange, Vampyr, The Adventures of Captain Spirit, Life is Strange 2, and Twin Mirror. After receiving criticism for their uneven release schedule of Life is Strange 2, Dontnod has promised to adhere to a stricter schedule.

Tell Me Why is an upcoming episodic adventure game. Tell Me Why is the story of two twins, Alyson and Tyler, who have traveled back to their childhood home in Alaska to uncover the mysteries of their past. Each twin experiences different visions and memories of their past which will guide the game’s narrative.

The two siblings must come to terms with the events from their childhood. In order to do this, they must uncover what truly transpired and how it shaped their development. Despite being separated at an early age, the two siblings look to rebuild their bonds and uncover a dark secret. The pair will discover what transpired and figure out how the events of the past shaped the events of today.

In Tell Me Why, the character known as Tyler has transitioned to male. Despite any change, his sister still seems to accept him openly and lovingly. Dontnod stated that Tyler is the first transgender playable character from any major studio, and they had worked with GLAAD to make him an “authentic representation of the trans experience.”

Dontnod loves representation whether it is LGBT in Life is Strange or Racism in Life is Strange 2. They are not afraid to push people’s comfort zones by providing thought-provoking narratives.

At the moment, The first episode will be available on August 27, 2020, with the next two episodes releasing on September 3rd and September 10th.
