Today on Twitter, Olivia Wilde released an 11-second teaser for her new movie Don’t Worry Darling. Reportedly set in the ’50s, the movie is a psychological thriller that will serve as Wilde’s second feature film. Her first film, Booksmart, received widespread acclaim for its fast-paced humor and fresh spin on the coming of age genre. Judging by the trailer though, Olivia Wilde’s new movie will take a very different direction.

A Visually Striking and Vague Teaser

The images in the Don’t Worry Darling teaser are sparse. The film stars Florence Pugh, of Black Widow and Midsommar fame. Viewers see scream queen Florence Pugh staring intently as a man serves her drinks. A finger runs through a miniature town. Harry Styles and Florence Pugh lock lips in a sloppy makeout session. Chorus girls dance, Florence Pugh’s head is wrapped up in saran wrap, and Pugh is shown submerged in water.

A brief synopsis of the Don’t Worry Darling states that it will follow an unhappy housewife who is suspicious her husband is hiding something sinister. No additional plot details regarding what will happen in Olivia Wilde’s new movie are available. However, if the talent in front of and behind the camera is any indication, filmgoers will be in for a treat.

Olivia Wilde’s New Movie Has a Lot Going For It

In addition to Pugh and Styles, Chris Pine, Nick Kroll, KiKi Layne, and upcoming Eternals star Gemma Chan will round out the cast. The Don’t Worry Darling teaser confirmed that the film will release on September 23, 2022. Warner Brothers will distribute it. However, the trailer emphasized that it will only be released in theaters, meaning that it will not be part of the Warner Brothers projects set to simultaneously release on HBO Max.

Don’t Worry Darling appeared on the 2019 Script Blacklist, an annual list of the most “well-liked” unproduced scripts. The script is by Katie Silberman, who helped write Booksmart. This will mark her second collaboration with Olivia Wilde.
