We saw a lot more gameplay footage of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order during the EA Play, and a little bit more during Microsoft’s press conference. During the gameplay, we got to see the main character, Cal Kestis, swinging his lightsaber around. The combat looked like a mix between a Dark Souls game, only with more force powers thrown in. However, one thing we did not see is any limbs flying in the air when Kestis slices into stormtroopers.

Many were wondering if they were going to get the chance to cut off any limbs with their lightsaber.

Following the gameplay footage shown at EA’s Play conference last Saturday, the lead technical designer, Brandon Kelch, did nail down if cutting off limbs was going to be a thing. The short answer is that yes, you’re going to have the opportunity to cut off limbs using Kestis’ lightsaber. But it’s not going to happen too often, and it’s going to serve more of a story-purpose than freely having players cutting stormtroopers in half.

So it looks like lightsaber combat is going to work differently than it did in the past, such as Star Wars: Jedi Outcast 2 where hands, legs, and arms could come off. Things are going to be a little more time in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

We’re going to learn more as additional information comes out, before the game’s release, which is later this year on November 15. You can pre-order the game for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, or the PC.
