Clearing up any confusion about crossplay between the various platforms this tactical shooter is on

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, a game that has essentially arose from obscurity, is not done in terms of getting major updates. The game is currently in its sixth year and third season of it, but as we’re in the middle of a console generation transition, we do wonder where this game will fit in for the ever changing landscape. Most importantly, will Siege have crossplay as it’s entering its six year anniversary of release?

Does Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege have crossplay?

As for the console side of things, the only information given so far was that Xbox and PlayStation players will be able to play with each other in “early 2022”. Whether you’re on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you can matchmake with people on Xbox One or the Xbox Series consoles.

There is no exact date for console crossplay, though with it will come full cross-progression.

Cross-progression is essentially being able to use your account on any platform. If you started your Rainbow Six Siege career on PlayStation, but want to play on PC to play with people there, you can do so. Details on how to do that can be found here. The only thing you’ll really need to have is a Ubisoft account.

From there, link any other secondary accounts to that Ubisoft account. Secondary accounts include your login credentials from other platforms, specifically those you would want to transfer your progress over from. For example, if you’re on Xbox Series X, but want to play Siege on PC, you’ll have to have your Xbox account linked to your Ubisoft account. More information can be found here on linking accounts.

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege is out now on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, and PC. To learn more about crossplay and cross-progression in Siege, click here. Additional details about how this works on other Ubisoft titles, click here.
