The first wave of the Kalos region Pokémon have arrived in Pokémon Go. The first few Pokémon will be featured in the Kalos Celebration event, alongside the new trainer level 50 cap and the introduction of XL candy. The main Pokémon featured in the Kalos Celebration are Chespin, Fennekin, Froakie, Bunnelby, Fletchling, Litleo, and Noibat. You’ll be able to capture many of them in the wild through eggs, and Litleo will also be available as a one-star raid. While you’re out capturing them and trying to catch as many as you can, should you be on the lookout for their shiny versions?
Right now, we don’t have a confirmation from Niantic regarding these Pokémon’s shiny versions. We know that the data mining group Pokeminers have confirmed on their Twitter page that all of the shiny assets for these Pokémon, including their evolved forms, have been pushed to the game. However, it doesn’t mean Niantic has activated them yet.
It’s likely that while the art assets for the shiny versions for all of these Pokémon are ready to go, you won’t be able to catch them until Niantic releases them in a special event. That’s typically how it goes. Niantic will throw together a special research project or a week-long event where special Pokémon spawn, and there’s a brand new shiny version of an older Pokémon everyone can now catch.
We’ll find out in a few days, and if players can confirm shiny versions of these Pokémon have released, we’ll update this page. However, given how players have not seen the shiny version of Espurr, the first Kalos region Pokémon to come out a few days before the rest of them, following its release, it’s likely we’ll be playing the waiting game.
