Jumping in two weeks early isn’t half-bad as far as pre-order bonuses go.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is set to release to PS4 and Xbox One at the end of the month. However, PS4 fans that pre-order the game ahead of time can play it starting August 14. As with those playing through Xbox Game Preview, PS4 players will only have access to the game’s first act. Once they finish it, they will have to wait until the game’s true release date of August 31 to play the rest of the game.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition is largely the same game that turned so many heads when it launched on PC last year. It still sports the same deep combat system, compelling characters, vast world and stellar writing. The immense amount of freedom given to players is still present too. One can still do just about anything they want, within reason. They had just better be prepared for the inevitable fallout of their actions to catch up to them. Most notably, the game can still features split-screen co-op for up to four players, a definite rarity these days.
This newest version of the game also features a number of enhancements including a re-written and improved third act, the addition of a party inventory system, new fights, a new tutorial, and some adjustments to the overarching story. This is all included in the Definitive edition, and will be offered as a free update to those who already own the original version on PC. Larian has produced an excellent RPG experience with Divinity: Original Sin 2, and it looks like they’re very much committed to making it the best experience it can possibly be.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 Definitive Edition launches for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on August 31.
