Square Enix has revealed today an update for Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT that will implement a series of gameplay adjustments, following the feedback from the recent open beta. So far the update has been announced for Japan, where the game is already out and topping the charts, although some details like the fact that this patch will come out the same day as the Western release makes us think that it will also be applied to all versions of the game.
Some of the most relevant changes include the possibility of switching the X and O buttons, which affects to the way the characters jump and perform Bravery attacks. This has been one of the most demanded features by those fans who also played the two previous Dissidia games on PSP, as in those games you would attack with the O and jump with the X. The same patch will let players also switch the functions of the R1/L1 and R2/L2 buttons.
Another interesting feature is that players will get to switch voices from Japanese to English, and use subtitles in these languages: English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Players will also earn more gil after battles, which can be used to purchase new skins and weapons, and will rise their level for offline battles more easily.
These adjustments in particular seem too critical to the experience for them to be absent from the Western version, although we don’t know whether the day one release will include this update or will have to be downloaded as a patch.
Here is the full list of changes, translated from the official Japanese Twitter account of the game.
- Languages added. English voices and subtitles for each language (English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish) can be chosen.
- In the control settings of the Options menu, Circle and X can be switched.
- In the control settings of the Options menu, L1 / R1 and L2 / R2 can be switched.
- In Room Matches, P.LV and C.LV experience points and Gil can be obtained.
- A greater amount of Gil will be rewarded for clearing battles.
- In situations where you disconnect with an opponent before the Briefing screen, there will not be a penalty.
- Offline Class can be more easily raised. (When your Offline Class rises, the ally COM rank also rises, which makes battles easier.)
- When matching with an opponent, the online ID of opponents in the voice chat list are hidden. (Everyone’s IDs will be displayed after moving to the Briefing screen with an opponent.)
