The prequel movie now gets a prequel show, an idea that would make Inception proud. The Rogue One based show adds a long-running character, among other changes.

This Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) lead Star Wars project pulls Mon Mothma to join the far far away adventures. Genevieve O’Reilly returns to play Mothama as Lucasfilm recently confirmed other new additions to the Disney+ show.

If memory serves, all the characters in Rogue One got obliterated in the end. It’s hard to imagine what show about floating space ashes would look like. Apparently, the team behind the scenes is having the same difficulty with the direction.

Out with The Old & Back in with It

Unlike other projects, this one was halted from something else other than Corona. From rewrites to the filming scheduled being pushed back, the Rogue One prequel show has had its challenges.  Stephen Schiff (The Americans) was announced to be the showrunner, which has now been changed to Tony Gilroy.

Gilroy is best known for writing the screenplays of the Bourne franchise while also penning 2016’s Rogue One. The writer’s room also receives new faces as Beau Willmon and Dan Gilroy join the team.

Luna and O’Reilly will be joined by another Rogue One alum, Alan Tudyk, as he returns to play K-2SO. The character turned to be a standout among audiences and commonly cited as one of the best things in the film.

We’ll keep you updated as Disney+ bolsters its Star Wars content, and more info comes out regarding the project. May the force shield you from the ‘Rona.
