Gazillion Entertainment has released an official statement announcing the end of their online multiplayer game Marvel Heroes Omega, available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. While the circumstances are still not completely clear, Marvel/Disney has confirmed that it’s ending their relationship with the developer, prompting the shut down of any activity related to the game. Gazillion has confirmed that the servers will remain online until December 31st, with all content becoming free in the coming days.

Players have certainly suspected the bad news for some time, as the developers started missing deadlines for updates and new content launches including the package related to the movie Thor: Ragnarok. This is the statement released by Gazillion Entertainment: “We’re sad to inform our players and our entire Marvel Heroes family that Marvel Heroes Omega will be shutting down. The Marvel Heroes servers will stay on until Dec 31, 2017, and we’ll be removing real money purchases as soon as possible. Players will be able to play the game entirely for free once this sunset period commences. We will share the exact date things go completely free as soon as we can.

Marvel Heroes is a free to play game in style of the Diablo series, using a wide selection of popular and niche Marvel characters. The game was also ported to PS4 and Xbox One this year under the name Marvel Heroes Omega. You can still play the game for free on PS4, Xbox One and PC for a month and a half until it is shut down.

We’ve had the privilege of entertaining and collaborating with our players for over four years. We’re extremely humbled by that privilege and wanted to get this message out: Thank you. Thank you to our players, our tireless employees, and everyone involved in the life of Marvel Heroes, Marvel Heroes 2015, Marvel Heroes 2016, and Marvel Heroes Omega.”
