Director James Gunn recently tweeted that he “wrote a 1/3 of an unannounced DC TV show.” Deadline reports that insiders are keeping the nature of what the show will focus on a secret as Gunn and his DC co-boss Peter Safran prepare to unveil their plans for the DC universe in film and TV near the end of the month. Gunn had major success in the DC universe this time last year when his show Peacemaker became the highest-rated DCEU series on Rotten Tomatoes. He has now taken over at DC and is planning a full reboot of the entire DC Universe. This unannounced series will be a part of whatever that looks like.

James Gunn’s DC TV Series Latest of Many DC Universe Changes

While Gunn has gotten much acclaim for his work in both the MCU (Guardians of the Galaxy) and the DC Universe (The Suicide Squad and Peacemaker), Warner Bros. has been making many controversial changes to the DC lineup, which Gunn has been a part of. For example, Wonder Woman 3 was recently canceled, and while Gunn has said that Wonder Woman will not be scrapped from DC’s future, it’s still uncertain where the character will fit into the DC reboot. Gunn will likely include this information when he announces his plans for DC in TV and film.

An even more controversial DC change was announced last month, namely that Henry Cavill would not be returning as Superman despite having been brought back just two months prior. Gunn was a major player in this decision as he wanted to make a new film focused in Superman’s earlier years. Cavill held the role dear to his heart, and many fans are still outraged about this decision. Fans are particularly outraged that Cavill has been let go while Ezra Miller could still stay in the DC Universe despite a series of problematic legal issues the actor dealt with last year. Gunn has said he doesn’t know what the future holds for Miller.
