Tabletop card games have been translated into digital versions for years, but Dire Wolf Digital is pulling a reverse move by transforming their digital card game Eternal into a tangible one.

Eternal: Chronicles of the Throne will take the game for IOS, Android, Xbox One, PS4, and PC and reforge it into a physical copy this August. However, there will be some mega changes for those who are familiar with the way you play online.

All the information came in a post called Designer Diary: High-Level Goals.

The way Chronicles of the Throne will differ from the digital game is in a few unique ways. Instead of having a strength and defense system, the cards will focus more on the strength number. When a unit blocks an attacking creature in the tabletop version, both will be sent to the discard pile. Whereas units in Eternal can block any creature, cards in Chronicles of the Throne can’t block units stronger than their strength.

Another big change takes place when you play non-unit cards. It seems many cards, if not all, will wind up going to the discard pile at the end of a player’s turn. This is coming from one line in the release saying,

This is not the first time Dire Wolf has released a physical deck-building card game. They and Renegade Game Studios released Clank!, their first tabletop game, in 2016. Two years later, the developers officially released Eternal.

The game will release with what they are calling the Forge deck. It will contain 100 cards, 70 of which will be unique and 15 will be repeated.

For now, we will have to wait to see what else is announced for Eternal: Chronicles of the Throne. That information will come in the team’s second Designer Diary and talk about Warping cards and Eternal Throne abilities.
