Dionne Warwick recently opened up about a musical duet between her and country singer Dolly Parton. The 82-year-old songstress went candid about the collaboration during her latest appearance on The Tamron Hall Show. She also explained the origin of their musical collaborations.

During her appearance on the show, Dionne Warwick explained that the musical collaboration took form after Dolly Parton sent her a song she hoped she could record. Following that, the 76-year-old country crooner sent Dionne another song, this time insisting they duet it. The That’s What Friends Are For crooner took the offer and is admittedly excited about their upcoming joint gospel track. She shared:

Also appearing on the show was Damon Elliot, the son of Dionne Warwick. The country singer voiced his excitement over his mom’s upcoming gospel duet. After Tamron pointed out that a musical collaboration between Dionne and Dolly Parton was a beautiful way to start the year, the 49-year-old could not agree more. He chimed in:

While this upcoming gospel duet between the two iconic women in music has fans all riled up, it would not be the first time their paths crossed. In 1992, Dionne’s cousin Whitney Houston recorded a version of Dolly’s 1973 I Will Always Love You for her film, The Bodyguard. Her version became a chart-topper in several countries, earning Houston global recognition and two Grammy wins.

Nearly three decades later, Dionne Warwick remembered her late cousin in the heat of her duet with Dolly Parton, another family collaboration. She said of her late cousin, who died at 48, following an accidental drowning in 2012:
