Digitally pre-ordering games are currently not available on Xbox One, but this could change before we see the release of Sunset Overdrive.
In the latest video from Insomniac Games, Community Manager Brandon Winfrey answered a fan question. The fan wanted to know if the Day One edition content for Sunset Overdrive will be available if he purchased the game digitally.
Winfrey said that Day One content for Sunset Overdrive will be available if he pre-orders the game. He notes digital pre-orders are not available yet for Xbox One owners, but they will be able to have this luxury “soon”.
It’s entirely possible digital pre-orders will be something Xbox One gamers can do before or from October 28th. This is the release date for Sunset Overdrive. Winfrey didn’t mention if pre-loading games is possible however. This is something Sony only recently added this year. Digital pre-orders however is something Sony has done for a while now anyway.
Hopefully Microsoft will make an official announcement on Xbox One digital pre-orders very soon. They should also implement a system where gamers can cancel pre-orders too. PSN users in North America still cannot do this. Very odd since European gamers can cancel pre-ordered digital games without any fuss.
