It appears that DICE Stockholm is moving full steam ahead into Star Wars Battlefront development. The upcoming Naval Strike expansion for Battlefield 4 will be the last bit of downloadable content for the 2013 shooter that will be made by the Sweedish arm of DICE.
Later this month, Battlefield 4 players will get their hands on the Naval Strike DLC. Apparently, DICE Stockholm is passing the torch to DICE LA for the remaining two bouts of DLC. The “Final Stand” and “Dragon’s Teeth” expansions will be handled by the LA Studio.
When fans started asking questions about The Battlefield 4 Phantom Program on Reddit, the topic came up about DLC. In which, a Battlelog developer revealed the news.
“DICE Stockholm is doing Naval Strike, everything else will be done by DICE LA.”
With Battlefield 4 problems quelled for the most part, and the downloadable content schedule firmly in place, DICE Stockholm moving on from Battlefield 4 DLC isn’t entirely unexpected. The DICE LA team was already revealed as a “helping arm” for the Sweedish Studio.
DICE Stockholm has plenty on their plate at the moment. Outside of putting out fires on Battlefield 4 since launch, DICE Stockholm has both Star Wars: Battlefront and the Mirror’s Edge reboot to make. We’re guessing that the DICE Stockholm team that would have been used to make these upcoming Battlefield 4 downloadable content releases, is transitioning over to Battlefront.
Very little is known about Star Wars Battlefront at this point. An E3 reveal was more of a teaser than anything. Neither EA nor DICE have revealed any concrete details about the shooter. There is also no clear cut release date for Star Wars: Battlefront — but speculation suggests that it could be years away. Speculation also suggests that Star Wars Battlefront will be “Freaking Awesome“.
