If you’d told me years ago that we’d be getting a fast-paced FPS where you battle each other as egg robots, I wouldn’t have believed you. Years later though, and here we are. Diabotical has been in development for some time, getting into closed betas and proving promising so far. It has everything going for it, and now the team behind it are ready to let the world have a go at it. Diabotical is now available for free via the Epic Games Store, bringing another arena FPS into the ring with fast-paced, egg-battling action. If you want to see it for yourself, you can find the launch trailer below.

Diabotical, as previously mentioned, is an arena first-person shooter at heart. If you’re not entirely sure what that means, I don’t blame you. The genre’s been mostly dead since Quake games stopped releasing (excluding Quake Champions). With the arena FPS community stagnant, Diabotical seeks to breathe new life by creating something a little more accessible. With all the high octane action, combined with many modes to take part in, Diabotical should prove a lot of fun for anyone jumping in. Considering it’s free-to-play as well, there’s no reason to not at least try it.

If this intrigues you, Diabotical is available through EGS right now. Nothing has been confirmed for other storefronts or platforms, but I wouldn’t hold your breath on the latter. Arena FPS games were made for PC, and aren’t as fun as you’d hope on consoles, unfortunately. Those on PC though should find a lot to love here, especially with how open it is to new and veteran players.

For now, I’d love to hear your thoughts on this release. Did you play during the Diabotical betas? Any arena FPS games you’ve played in the past? Let us know, and stay tuned at The Nerd Stash for all your news, reviews, and more!
