As seen on Xbox Wire –

Blizzard recently announced some exciting news for fans of Diablo 3: Reaper Of Souls – Ultimate Evil Edition, particularly for Xbox One owners. The Xbox One version’s future updates will mirror the patches seen on the PC version, meaning patch 2.1 (PC) will follow closely onto the Xbox One version. A console game receiving mirrored patches this quickly compared to its PC counterpart has never happened before.

This on the back of the news that the game will be receiving a Day 1 patch, bringing it up to the much sought after, discussed and often demaned 1080p, 60fps standard.

John Hight, production director for Diablo III spoke on the subject “We’re really excited about it. When we started on this adventure we thought we’d never be able to do updates on the console side in the same way we do with the PC. This allows us to be more responsive to our customers. Our goal is to eventually make these updates simultaneous.”

This kind of patching is now possible because the Xbox One has the power to handle large-form patches and update games in the background. With gamers increasingly becoming fully connected to the Internet, Blizzard are comfortable with pushing large patches online.

As an awesome bonus that should not really be a footnote – If you have already played Diablo 3 on the Xbox 360 or PS3, you can transfer your characters to the Xbox One version. How freaking epic is that!?

Power of the cloud? Indeed it is.
