Destiny 2 is well known for a lot of things, from its initially lackluster launch to its major success following 2018’s Forsaken expansion alongside the following content releases. The one aspect it’s known best for though is its raids, which pit you and five others against increasingly difficult puzzles and combat encounters. With the Vow of the Disciple raid now well behind us though, some are wondering when the previously teased returning raid from Destiny 1 will arrive in the game (let alone which raid it will be). If you’re curious yourself, no need to worry. In this guide, we’ll explain when the next returning raid is coming to Destiny 2.

When is the Next Returning Raid Coming to Destiny 2?

Conveniently, the team announced the date during their weekly This Week at Bungie blog post yesterday afternoon. The raid will arrive at 10 AM PT on August 26, three days following the Destiny 2 Showcase on August 23. When the raid launches, it will come with a Contest Mode for the opening 24 hours, letting players race to be the first to complete the raid as quickly as possible and snag some special loot as a result. This Contest Mode and World First Race will work a bit differently to how it works for entirely new raids being added, though you can read the blog post for specifics on that.

As far as which raid is returning, that’s anyone’s guess at this point. With that being said, the fan favorite guesses are Wrath of the Machine (Destiny 1: Rise of Iron) and King’s Fall (Destiny 1: The Taken King). Another popular guess, and one that I’d be super happy to see, is Crota’s End from the Dark Below expansion. I’d be happy with any at the end of the day, and these are all purely speculative at this point. Whichever raid it is, it’s bound to be a great time.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.
