Destiny 2’s inaugural Solstice of Heroes limited-time event kicks off tomorrow, bringing with it a number of new challenges and unlockables.
Solstice of Heroes is all about celebrating the past accomplishments of Guardians, namely the victory that Guardians experienced over the Cabal invasion that was the basis of the game’s initial campaign.
Two expansions later, Destiny 2 is about to grow in a big way with next month’s Forsaken expansion, but not before celebrating what has already been done and giving players a bit more to do prior to Sept. 4. Plus, it’s free.
After visiting Ikora Rey, players will then travel to a big statue that has been erected in the center of the Tower. Doing so will unlock a 240 base armor set that can be upgraded to look like the ones above. One of the ways to upgrade them will be Redux missions, which are remixed campaign missions with new encounters and difficulties.
Five new Moments of Triumph also unlock with Solstice of Heroes, and those can be tracked by in-game bounties obtained at the Statue of Heroes, too. Completing bounties unlocks rewards, but there will be more to find in an all-new Solstice Engram.
Solstice Engrams are unlocked through playing, but also can be purchased with Silver at Tess Everis. There will be new Exotic Ghost shells, weapon ornaments, emotes, sparrows, and more.
Solstice of Heroes lasts from July 31 to Aug. 28, one week before Forsaken launches on Sept. 4.
