Destiny 2: The Witch Queen goes full force when it comes to solving mysteries and discerning lies from truths. Savathun herself is the Hive god of cunning and lies after all, so mysteries are bound to be afoot. The missions you take on are no different, featuring everything from environmental to literal puzzles that must be completed to progress. One puzzle that’s surprisingly difficult for first timers, especially if the tooltip refuses to show up, is the puzzle during the main mission Memories of Ruin. If you find yourself having difficulty, no need to worry. In this guide, we’ll explain exactly how to complete the Memories of Ruin puzzle (also known as The Odd One Challenge) in Destiny 2!

How to Complete the Memories of Ruin Puzzle in Destiny 2

When beginning the puzzle, you’re met with eight different plates (as shown above, though looking different), each with a set of symbols on them. While trying to understand Hive language may be as confusing as trying to fit a square into a circle hole, there is a method to the madness. For this puzzle, you’re looking for three plates that look different to the rest of them. As such, it’ll be easier to find the pattern that’s consistent, then shoot the plates that aren’t. This will be placement sensitive too, so if a plate has the same symbols in different spots, that counts as being a different plate from the rest. While we’d love to show you the answer here, unfortunately, the plates are more than likely different for you. As such, showing you an answer would simply be a waste of time.

Either way, this guide hopefully sends you in the right direction to complete the Memories of Ruin puzzle (also known as The Odd One Challenge) in Destiny 2.
