Arkane’s Deathloop is finally here, letting players explore the fresh and unfamiliar island of Blackreef, in search of a way to stop a never-ending time loop. With Colt conveniently suffering a hangover each morning he wakes up, it’s going to be a long and perilous journey filled with many nuances to discover. Speaking of nuances, along the way you’ll be looking for a way to kill two particular visionaries with one stone, but a data cassette puzzle blocks your way forward. As this is a complex puzzle, you might need some help to get it done. No need to worry as, in this guide, I’ll explain how to complete the data cassette puzzle in Deathloop!
How to Complete the Data Cassette Puzzle in Deathloop
For starters, if you’re already at the data cassettes, you’ll want to just read the book and walk away. You have no chance of solving it at this stage (unless you want to be here for hours on end), so head back out of this secret hideout and make your way out of Fristad Rock. You’ll need to come back when Fia is killable, as getting into her facility is crucial. When you finally get into her facility, you’ll be looking for various symbols on the wall. These are randomized on each playthrough, but there’s helpful clues within your Discoveries menu (found by pressing J). Each symbol should look something like the one below:
While I’d love to give you the locations outright, the fact that they’re randomized makes this impossible. As an example though, the image above had a clue saying it was found in the main hall. Low and behold, there it was. Another was said to be in a shaft, which was found at the top of an elevator shaft. Keep searching these until you’ve pressed the interact key on all four. Once done, make your way back to the secret hideout (when available that is).
Once back at the data cassette puzzle in Deathloop, this is where you’ll use your four symbols. If you press J, they’re organized neatly as the first, second, third, and fourth symbols (shown if you hover over each option). Simply press the four data cassettes with those symbols in that order, and it’ll be open! Just be ready for some trial and error, as plenty of cassettes are useless.
Deathloop is available on PC and PlayStation 5.
