Even stones know that Norman Reedus will play the protagonist Sam Porter Bridges in Death Stranding, the upcoming PlayStation 4 exclusive. Not so many know, anyway, that Hideo Kojima wanted Sam to reflect the personality of Reedus, who talked about that at an interview about The Walking Dead 10.

“It was maybe three years that I wore that little suit with the dots on it,” said Reedus, as reported by GamesRadar+. “And every time I did something I’d scratch my head or yawn and [Kojima would say] ‘do it again,’ and I was like ‘is everybody playing me?’ and he goes ‘no they’ll be you.’”

“So there’s a lot of crossover Norman stuff in there because Hideo wanted you to relate to the character,” he added. “He didn’t want just a generic character, and he did it through Norman a little bit, so you’ll see some Easter eggs or certain things that happen, and you’ll go ‘oh that’s very Norman’, but he did that on purpose.”

So, Kojima wanted that character to feel like he was played by Norman Reedus and not some kind of generic actor who only provided his face and motion capture. Most likely, this will happen with other characters played by famous actors, such as Cliff’s Mads Mikkelsen, and we’re going to love that.

That’s rather fun if you ask me, and the latest gameplay where you saw Sam in the safe house makes a lot more sense right now. Hopefully, we’ll get to see more intimate moments from those characters in the game, and not only from the protagonist.

Death Stranding is coming to PS4 on November 8, 2019.
