Last week, we shared with readers the news of a Death Stranding trailer getting showcased exclusively at Gamescom. We don’t know when, or even if, this “Briefing” trailer will get posted on the internet. But sure enough, Hideo Kojima himself believes it is essential to understand what’s up in the game.

We’re waiting for the trailer to show up on the official YouTube channels for Sony and Kojima Productions. There is, however, a leak of the trailer taken off-screen at the Gamescom show. As you might expect, the clip is extremely low quality but gives viewers an idea about what’s in the trailer.

The trailer got leaked by YouTuber RePorter Bridges, who was at Gamescom. The trailer premiered behind closed doors at the German event. You can expect to have no light in the room during the video.

We see several characters in the trailer, such as main protagonist Sam Porter Bridges, alongside Amelie and Die Hardman. Amelie is only a hologram, talking to Sam about how he can reunify the United Cities of America.

Sam gets tasked with traveling west and reconnecting the Chiral Network terminals with what remains of the country. By doing so, Sam can reconnect the people of Amerca on the Chiral Web, reuniting the nation under a single entity.

However, and this is somewhat surprising considering what we’ve seen in previous trailers, Sam refuses to take part in the mission. He doesn’t want to work together with Amelie and Hardman “or anyone else, ever again.” That distinct statement hints at his involvement with others in the past.

Get ready for Death Stranding to release on Nov. 8, 2019, for the PlayStation 4.
