After fan outcry, a new performance patch is here. Deadly Premonition 2 got a new update that improves performance and adds inverted camera support.

Deadly Premonition 2 was released in early July and did not have the best of launches. On launch, its poor frame rate drew sharp criticism online, especially in the outdoor areas. For example, riding around town on your skateboard would have the game struggle to handle even a modest frame rate.

While the game is running on the Nintendo Switch, which comes with some technological limitations, the frequent single frame rate drops made the game impossible to play for some. The game is a sequel to the cult classic Deadly Premonition, where you play as FBI agent Francis York Morgan to solve a misery in New Orleans.

The game was created by the team at Rising Star Games, and directed by the famous SWERY.

Deadly Premonition 2 Update Addresses Frame Rate Issues

Released earlier today, the new patch does not fix every issue buts irons out the major ones. Most notably the frame rate has made a significant improvement from the previous choppy mess. Other changes include new inverted camera controls.

Another aspect of the game got a fix was a soft lock in one of the mini-games. Previously players could not progress after completing the mini-game, but they can progress now.

For those hoping that the game’s severe loading issues would be fully addressed in the patch will, unfortunately, have to keep waiting. Deadly Premonition 2 has load screens that can go for over a minute at times, and freeze in a way that makes it seem like the game has hard locked.

This is not the first time Deadly Premonition 2 has received an update to fix issues, but some not all related to technical issues. The first update for the game addressed some transphobic lines that were in the original release.
