Dead Cells has been one of the hits in 2018, and being among the most beloved games out there was also a sort of confirm that developer Twin Motion would be returning soon with more titles like it.

Game Informer has had a chat with game designer Sébastien Bénard, in order to learn whether the French studio is planning on a sequel or not.

“In terms of a sequel, we know for sure it’s not a good idea to dwell on your success. If you create a big hit, it’s best to use this energy to make something different,” Bénard said.

“I don’t think we’ll make a Dead Cells 2. We’re more open to creating more content and opening the game up more to the community.

If we did make a Dead Cells 2, it’s because we really need the money (laughs).”

So what’s next for Twin Motion, if we’re truly not getting a Dead Cells sequel. That would be “something quite different.”

“We don’t want to stick to the same thing though, so I think if we did come back it would be something quite different, not a platformer or roguelike along these lines.”

Are you glad the studio has such plans, or would you prefer having a Dead Cells 2 right away before they embark on a new journey?
