Fans of Dead by Daylight and Resident Evil today find their two fandoms once again reunited. The new Dead By Daylight Resident Evil: Project W DLC pack has now gone live, bringing both new content, and reworks to existing content to the frightful DBD universe. Licensed crossovers have long been a centerpiece of Dead By Daylight‘s history, and this Project W release is no exception. One could almost be forgiven for referring to Dead by Daylight as the Avengers or the Mortal Kombat of horror crossovers. If you can imagine any famous horror movie villain, the odds are that Behavior Interactive has considered adding it, or already did so, at one point or another.

New survivors, new killers, new perks

In the new Dead by Daylight Resident Evil: Project W DLC, we see the addition of two new survivors, Ada Wong and Rebecca Chambers. We also get a new killer, The Mastermind, who comes with a slew of likewise all-new killer perks. One such inclusion is Superior Anatomy. The official patch notes description for the Project W release reads as follows:

Two more perks, Awakened Awareness and Terminus, were also added. Awakened Awareness aims to help prevent killers from finding themselves stunned by survivors by increasing their perception.

Terminus adds a debuff that negatively impacts survivors’ ability to heal themselves. This applies specifically during the end of a match after exit gates have been opened:

Addressing player complaints

Other significant additions have been included in this Project W release, such as a total rework of the Raccoon City Police Station. Among the changes, the developers split the map into two separate maps. However, one curious focus on the developers’ part is their long-overdue attempts to address player toxicity. The first is Anonymous Mode, which “replaces your account name with your selected character’s name for other players.” However, this will not apply universally, as “players in your group will still see your account name.” Anonymous mode will hide your account name, replacing it with your character’s name. Players can also choose to hide other players’ names in a similar manner using a separate new setting.

Dead by Daylight‘s new Project W DLC is now available to purchase on Steam, the Epic Games Store, and on consoles.
